Our board of governors is responsible for representing the interests of Northumberland College, the community and our partners.


Governors are elected by the Board's members and represent their views and those of partners that the college works with.

Their additional responsibilities include:

  • Advising on the college's strategic direction and plans
  • Appointing the Chair and Vice Chair to sit of the Board of Governors
  • Approving the appointment of the Principal/Chief Executive

The Governing Body has a legal obligation to ensure the college is effectively managed, determine its educational character and agree its strategic objectives. The Governors also agree the annual budget and ensure financial probity.
